Sigtryggur Magnason is born on the 20th of January 1974.
He wrote his first poem 11 years old to be rewarded by his aunt's laughter. A traumatic experience. The next poem 7 years later, inspired by an Icelandic novel about a death of a child, incest, a dark and poor farm in the north, nature.
In The University of Iceland he wrote 1 short play and a book of poetry.
In 2002 his play/poetry Herjólfur has stopped loving was published by the most extinguished puclication in Iceland at that time: Mál & menning. In the spring of 2003 Herjólfur has stopped loving premiered at the National Theater of Iceland, directed by Stefan Jonsson, the leading Actor Sigurdur Skulason won the DV-newspaper Theatre Award for his performance. Music by Kira Kira. In 2004 Herjólfur has stopped loving was recorded and aired by the Icelandic Broadcasting Service.
In the spring of 2007 the play Imminent premiered at his home as a part of Reykjavík Arts Festival. Directed by Bergur Ingolfsson. Actors: Edda Arnljotsdottir, Ingvar E. Sigurdsson and Jorundur Ragnarsson. Produced by Sigtryggur. The book Yfirvofandi/Imminent was also published in a bilingual edition. Imminent was recorded by the Icelandic Broadcasting Service and 2008: Imminent recorded for the National Public Radio of Iceland, music by Ulfur Eldjarn. Imminent was awarded the Icelandic Drama Awards for the best radio-production of the year 2009.
In 2008 Sigtryggur took part in The National Theater of Iceland youth-project, Thjodleikur. 5 groups of young actors in East-Iceland produced Sigtryggur's short play After Life.
In 2009 Sigtryggur was commisioned to write a play for the graduating class of The Icelandic Academy of the Arts. His new play, Soon I'll Hate You will premiere on the 22nd of January 2010.
Sigtryggur has since 1998 worked as a journalist and editor in newspapers, magazines, radio and TV and a copywriter. He translated How I learned to Drive by Paula Vogel for an Icelandic production in 2007. Since February 2009 Sigtryggur has been working as a political advisor to the Minister of Education, Science and Culture in Iceland.
