Lioba Reckfort is theatre director and playwright. Since 1999 she´ve been working in theatre mainly in Berlin. In 2004 she graduated (Master) in Science of Theatre, Culture Communication, Spanish and German literature studies at the Humboldt University Berlin. After five month of reseach residence in Mexico-City in 2003 she wrote her thesis about Mexican Theatre.
International Projects
In addition to her scientifical work about Mexican Theatre she developed and presented in Mexico with students of the Chapingo University the play Nezacualcóyotle (2001). With the Mexican director and playwright Salomón Reyes she wrote and directed the play Las Ninas Muertas (The Dead Girls) presented at the Centro Hélenico in Mexico-City (2007). Following this kind of interculture work she realized the premiere of Los Caracol! Vorwärts! at the Theatre Atze Musik Theater in Berlin (2009).
She got to know The Internationalists in New York in August 2009. Since that moment she has been colaborating with The Internationalists. She participated in 24 Hours around the world (2009) and Which Direccion Home (August 2010). Her first project like a member of the Internationalist she realized in autumn 2010. She organized with Jake Witlen, Dina Keller and Jeremy Lydic the theatre event Round the world. Her play Intergalactic Invasion based on interactiv theatre spectacle with actors, who had been playing in New York and Berlin via skype.
Interculture Projects in Berlin
Aside from her interculture work with Hispanic actors, since 2006 she has been working also with African and Turkish migrants in Berlin. She integrated her experiences from her stays abroad into her theatre works. She looks for themes that are associated with the cross-cultural context of the groups. Her plays are usually in German and in the actors native language. Interculture plays develope by Lioba Reckfort in Berlin: Die heilige Figur aus Benin (The holy Figure from Benin) with German and Nigerian players from Edo Culture Group Berlin; The play Weltenbummler (Globetrotter) with asylum-seekers from Africa of the initiative FIB Flüchtlingsinitiative Berlin-Brandenburg; With Turkish female players she presented among other things Kara Tren (The Train Stand Still) in colaboration with the Association Bundesverband der Migrantinnen e.V. and also she developed the shadow Theatreplays Taxifahrer Yakup und Karagöz verliebt in Berlin with Turkish families.
Social-Culture Projects
In 2008 she becomed adquianted with her socialculture theatre plays Mietskaserne Wedding and Kommerz ´89 in the Berlin´s multiculturell neigbourhood Wedding. Both she presented in the Theatre Festival 100° at the Theatre Sophiensaele in Berlin.
